On this episode, I’m joined by my super pal Zack from Terror Racks Video to dissect the glorious mess that is Jason Goes to Hell.
We dive into everything from the legal tangle that kept “Friday the 13th” off the title, to Jason’s supernatural body-hopping side quest that split fans harder than a pole through a camper. We show some love to the tense, trap-filled opening, and debate whether Creighton Duke is an unsung horror icon or just plain bizarre.
Zack, our resident Youngstown expert, tries to make sense of the greatest cinematic mystery the city’s ever seen: why Jason Voorhees’ corpse ends up in their morgue. We also unpack the film’s deeper lore—Jason’s Deadite ties, the bloodline twist, and the tease of Freddy vs. Jason.
For drinks, we went full FRyeDay the 13th with heavy hitters: Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Rye and Blackened x Willett. Whether you love it or loathe it, this one’s a blood-splattered detour worth revisiting.

In Part II of this episode, I’m joined by director and cinematographer Jamie Root of JFR Media, whose horror credits include Terrifier 2 & 3, STREAM, and Screamboat. We dive into Jamie’s path through the genre, the organized chaos of working with blood, prosthetics, and passionate creatives, and the unique challenges of being a steady hand behind the camera when things get wild.
Jamie shares behind-the-scenes stories from Terrifier, including working with David Howard Thornton (Art the Clown), navigating complex stunts and FX-heavy scenes like the brutal shower sequence, and what it takes to keep continuity when the gore starts flying. We also dig into her time filming STREAM during the pandemic, wrangling a hotel full of horror legends, and what’s ahead for the franchise. Plus, we talk about her latest work on the new horror-comedy, Screamboat.
Of course, it wouldn’t be The Whiskey Morgue without a pour—Jamie takes on some high proof sips with Angel’s Envy Rum Finished Rye and Lucky 7 Holiday Toast. Along the way, she shares her dream horror franchise to work on, thoughts on the direction of Terrifier 4, and the story behind her Degrassi-themed sightseeing trip in Toronto.
I definitely woke up with a hangover and a sore jaw from laughing so hard during my conversation with Jamie. Be sure to check out all of her incredible work, and if you’re in upstate New York this September, don’t miss the Scare-A-Con Horror Convention and Film Festival in Syracuse—Jamie’s helping bring it all to life.

On this episode, I hang out with the gents from Boos Brews and BBQ, a thrilling new TV series that explores haunted histories and smoky flavors across America. Hosted by Barry Kerch (Shinedown), Ty Sherrell (BBQ guru), and John Guarnieri (Spear Talk podcast), each episode takes viewers to a new city where they dive into local BBQ traditions, investigate eerie legends, and sometimes get surprise visits from horror icons like Lee Waddell (Ghostface) or James Jude Courtney (Michael Myers).
The guys share the origin of the project and how their friendship and shared passions brought it all to life. We get into some of their most fascinating and frightening experiences so far, and why authenticity is at the heart of what they’re doing—this isn’t just another ghost-hunting show.
Oh, and did I mention this episode was recorded just as they checked into their Airbnb—a murder house in Bowling Green, Kentucky? According to Ty, that booking detail was... a surprise.
While we chat, I sip on some Green River Full Proof Single Barrel picked by Fred Minnick’s Club Marzipan and the guys drink some Boone’s Bourbon from our friend Tyler Boone.
It was an absolute blast hanging out and laughing with these guys. So pour some whiskey or crack a cold one, grab your Ouija board and some smoked meat, and enjoy the episode.
Cheers and Stay Spooky!

On this episode, I’m joined by Jaz'min Weaver, National Brand Ambassador for Bardstown Bourbon Company. She shares her journey from crafting cocktail menus and working in hospitality in Metro Detroit to moving to Kentucky, falling down the bourbon rabbit hole, and joining Bardstown.
We discuss the formative movies that ignited her love for horror and all things spooky, including her affinity for werewolf films. Jaz' also talks about how her passion for the strange and unusual led her to various creative projects and events within Detroit’s art community.
While chatting, Jaz' walks me through a tasting of two of her favorite expressions: Bardstown’s Origin Series High Wheat Bourbon and their Collaborative Series with Amrut. She breaks down the components and processes behind each pour and of course, we give both whiskeys the Whiskey Morgue treatment by pairing them with some of our favorite films.
Throughout the episode, Jaz’s passion and enthusiasm are infectious - she’s a well of whiskey knowledge, but also a poet, writer, creative, and a woman who is helping shape the future of whiskey. Expect to see more of Jaz' on the podcast in the future.
Enjoy the episode and STAY SPOOKY!

On this episode I share a few drinks with the original Ghostface from Scream 1 and 2, Lee Waddell.
Lee shares the story of how he broke into the stunt business, kicking off an illustrious career that’s seen him work with legends like Spielberg, Burton, Bay — and of course, Wes Craven. Wes kept Lee on speed dial, and the two collaborated on multiple projects for over a decade.
We dive into the making of that unforgettable opening scene with Drew Barrymore, and how Lee ended up killing one of his childhood heroes — none other than the Fonz himself, Henry Winkler. Lee also shares Wes’ vision for Ghostface, and the film that helped him shape the killer’s movements.
While we talk, we sip on Oban 14 and Michter’s Sour Mash Toasted — and it turns out, Lee has one hell of a palate. He even throws out a couple of impromptu cigar pairings for each pour.
Never in a million years did I think I’d be sipping whiskey with Ghostface himself, but that’s the magic of horror and whiskey — they bring people together and build community. Enjoy this episode and stay spooky!

On this episode, I dive into all things Barrell with Master Blender Nic Christiansen. Nic shares her journey before joining Barrell, honing her skills as Beverage Director at the renowned Butchertown Grocery. She discusses how managing an extensive whiskey program and crafting cocktails prepared her for her dream job—creating innovative whiskey blends.
Nic takes me through a tasting of Batch 36 and the newest release, Barrell Foundation Double Barrel, breaking down the science, creativity, and storytelling behind each blend. Along the way, she shares some great behind-the-scenes stories from the blending process. Then, we put a fun twist on things—pairing a movie with each whiskey. Turns out, Nic knows her horror and draws some killer connections between these bottles and her favorite films.
This was a blast to record, and I walked away with a whole new appreciation for Barrell’s approach. Hope you enjoy this week's episode!

In this episode, I sit down with my guy, Eric the Whiskey Mutant. We take a trip down memory lane to the video store and pick out one of our favourite movies growing up, Puppet Master. We discuss the cover art and posters that drew us to the film and then of course have some fun discussing the film itself. Turns out it’s not quite as we remembered.
Eric guides me through an epic Whiskey Mutant tasting by pairing some of our favourite bottles with nostalgic movie snacks. We start savoury, pairing Michter’s Barrel Strength Rye with All-Dressed Chips, then go sweet pairing Wildnerness Trail’s Wheated Single Barrel with Dunkaroos. Are you salivating yet? You should be.
Pour a drink, grab a snack and get ready for a good time!

In this episode, I catch up with my longtime friend, Ben Scrivens, CEO of Fright-Rags Horror Apparel. We recap some highlights after finally reuniting at Frightmare in the Falls this past October. Ben shares epic stories from nearly two decades of attending conventions, including hanging with George Romero and drinking bourbon in a hotel lobby with Sam Raimi.
Ben also pulls back the curtain on the struggles and legalities of getting franchise designs from concept to t-shirt, while revealing some of the 'holy grail' franchises he hopes to work with in the future. Being the generous guy he is, Ben even teases several unannounced releases you won’t want to miss.
For our drinks of the evening, we enjoy Rare Character Limited Rye 2024 Batch 1 and a Rare Character Single Barrel Rye finished in French oak.
So pour yourself a drink, get comfy in your favorite Fright Rags tee and lounge pants, and enjoy this week's episode!

This week, I sit down for a drink with Russ Flynn, guitarist and bassist of X Ambassadors.
Russ shares his passion for the culinary world, which led him deep into the world of spirits and cocktails. We chat about his whiskey hunting adventures on tour, and how he bakes artisan bread when he's home (he literally has a loaf of rye in the oven as we speak).
We also dive into the band's performance at the Bourbon and Beyond Festival, followed by Russ’s private tour at Starlight Distillery on the Huber Farm. Naturally, we enjoy some Starlight Family Reserve Bourbon and White Port Bourbon as Russ shares highlights from his visit.
Though easily spooked by horror movies, Russ discusses his appreciation for their musical scores and how they’ve influenced him as a musician.
It was a pleasure hanging with Russ—we could talk drinks and music for hours! I hope you enjoy this week's extra-long episode, and do yourself a favor: catch X Ambassadors on tour if you can. Easily one of the best live shows I’ve seen.
Stay Spooky!
